Best New Resort

The Parksville Beach Club Resort has been Named "Best New Resort" by The Oregonian

Best new resort: Parksville's newest accommodations, the Beach Club Resort, are also the most fancy. Opened in 2008, the resort occupies the same primo acreage on the community beach where the grand old Island Hall Hotel (built in 1917, demolished in 2005) once stood.

"Hello, Whistler," was my husband's comment when we first drove up to this condo-style development's front door. With its wooden beams, earth tones and stone accents, the Beach Club feels quite ski-chalet-ish.

Our one-bedroom suite boasted a tricked-out kitchen, a gas fireplace, a soaker tub and a balcony with stellar views.

Parksville, British Columbia -

The Beach Club Resort has been named one of three national finalists for the Tourism Industry Association of Canada's New Business of the Year at the National Awards for Tourism Excellence 2009.

The New Business of The Year Award nomination recognizes The Beach Club Resort's success during their first year as the newest luxury resort on Vancouver Island. Making innovative business decisions during a slow tourism year, the resort became a standout in their industry in their first year in operation. "We are thrilled to have been chosen as a finalist for New Business of the Year," says Shawna Broekhuizen, The Beach Club Resort's General Manager. "It's a tribute to the hard work of our staff and management in making our first year a success."

The New Business of the Year winner will be announced at a gala awards reception in Saint John, New Brunswick during Canada's Tourism Leadership Summit on November 3rd. Innovative and forward-thinking businesses from across Canada will be recognized for their contributions to all aspects of Canadian Tourism at The National Awards for Tourism Excellence, presented by The Globe and Mail. Award finalists represent the people, places, organizations and events across the country that offer a superior tourism experience to Canadian travelers each year.

The Beach Club Resort opened in June of 2008 in Parksville, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island on the former site of the historical Island Hall Resort. Situated directly on Parksville Beach with an excellent west coast climate, The Beach Club Resort has quickly become a popular destination for beachside vacations year-round.
