Things To Do On Vancouver Island In Spring

Boardwalk steps away from The Beach Club Resort

Spring has arrived in Parksville, and as the days get longer and the temperature rises, the options for outdoor adventures soar. It’s the perfect time of year to shake off those winter blues and immerse yourself in Parksville's beautiful colours, sights and sounds. And there’s no better place to do that than on a property steps away from the beach.

The Beach Club Resort offers rooms with stunning views of one of Vancouver Island’s most loved areas, Parksville Beach. And with the Stay® | Well Amenities, a value-add program offering free rentals of items like kayaks, bicycles, SUP, and umbrellas, you have every reason to explore!

Guests of the Beach Club Resort also have access to the beach-side indoor heated pool, hot tub and fitness center featuring panoramic views of the beach and nearby islands. And if you want to be pampered, the onsite Stonewater Spa offers a full list of treatment options no matter your relaxation, beautification or wellness goals.

Spring covered patio featuring a new menu and the best ocean views in Parksville.

When you need nourishment at the start, middle or end of your day, head to the resort’s onsite restaurant & lounge. When you decide to dine in at the heated and covered patio, you are rewarded with unparalleled ocean and mountain views. And let’s not forget about the food! New Executive Chef, Nate Catto, creates West Coast-style cuisine that is fresh, sustainable, ocean-wise, and handmade with locally sourced ingredients. Whether it’s the elevated comfort food like our best-selling Seafood Chowder (try it with a crab cake on top!), charcuterie board, and nachos or something a little more refined like the Hazelnut Crusted Halibut w/ Vanilla & Lobster Cream, The Beach Club has something for everybody.

If you wish to explore even more of Parksville, we’ve got you covered. Here are five recommended experiences perfect for your spring getaway.

1. Admire the Spring Blooms

The Community Park, located steps away from the Beach Club Resort, has a small but beautiful garden in full bloom during the spring. Cherry blossom trees also line the park’s entrance, creating a stunning backdrop. For a full flower immersion, head to Milner Gardens. This seaside garden in Qualicum Beach comes alive with colour each spring and offers visitors 28 hectares of unspoiled natural beauty.

The Englishmen River estuary is a Parksville jewel that one should not miss out on.

2. Bird Watching

If you visit in April, your oceanview room at the Beach Club Resort may be the perfect location to spot migrating Brant Geese. The Brant Wildlife Festival has made spotting these geese a popular spring activity. And just down the road from the resort, you can find one of the best birding areas on Vancouver Island. The Englishman River Estuary at the end of Shelly Road offers visitors a short path to the mouth of the river, where you’ll find a beautiful estuary teeming with birds and other wildlife.

3. Head to a Golf Course

The Parksville area has seven year-round golf courses to choose from, and one of the reasons it’s considered a top golfing destination. With a course for every skill level and budget, you will find one right for you. If mini-golf is more your thing, Paradise Fun Park is within walking distance from the Beach Club Resort.

4. View Ocean Wildlife

The Salish Sea surrounding Parksville teems with ocean wildlife during the spring, thanks to the annual Pacific herring run. While out on a guided tour with Ocean Ecoventures, you may have the opportunity to spot Orca, Humpback Whales, Steller & California Sea Lions, Pacific Harbour Seals, and Bald Eagles. And, of course, the beautiful ocean scenery surrounding you.

Horne Lake Caves has a variety of cave exploration packages suited for all ages and comfort & fitness levels.

5. For the Adrenaline Seekers

There are two great options for those seeking even more adventure. Head underground to discover ancient fossils, formations and waterfalls at Horne Lake Caves. They have underground activities for all ages and abilities. Or, head up into the sky for an exhilarating experience. Skydive Vancouver Island specializes in creating the ultimate tandem skydiving adventure. There is truly nothing like a bird’s eye view.

Whether you are looking for a couples escape or a family getaway, the Beach Club Resort awaits your spring arrival and is eager to help you make the most of your time in Parksville.
